When human endeavour combines with eco friendly demand, the possibilities are incredible!
Take a look below at three unbelievable ways individuals, companies and countries are reusing plastic all over the world.
Transforming Plastic into Floating Islands
This initiative only popped up recently, but it has so much promise I couldn’t not include it.
The proposal is to take floating plastic out of the river New Meuse in Amsterdam before it reaches the North Sea, and turn it into floating islands.
The floating islands will provide a habitat for a host of flowers, insects and other living beings.

Creating Art with Recycled Flipflops
When it comes to creativity, Ocean Sole takes it to a whole new level.
The concept behind what they do is very simple. They take recycled flip flops and turn them into works of art.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, their mission is to become a global leader in conservation entrepreneurship. They look to raise awareness through their artwork, which is pretty incredible by the way!
You can buy artwork from these craftsmen online (I’m not joking) by clicking here.
You can also donate to their cause from their website and follow them on social media to keep up to date with their latest projects. Watch the video below to have your mind blown.
Ecobricks - Using Plastic to Build Houses
Okay, so anyone seasoned to the anti-plastic scene will know all about ecobricks, but they are too groundbreaking not to mention!
The premise, like most of these great ideas, is simple. Fill plastic bottles with plastic waste, thus creating a ‘brick’ that can be used in a whole host of ways. The famous option being building a whole house from it!
In one case, a castle was even made from ecobricks…
Putting the question of whether the ‘King of the Plastic Castle’ is crazy or genius aside, the possibilities for ecobricks are clearly endless and incredibly exciting!
The best part about ecobricks is that anyone can pick up rubbish off the ground and start (unlike the huge Rhino made out of flip flops…). There are ecobrick collection centres all over the UK, so get busy and do your best to make a difference today!

From burning plastic for energy to turning it into park benches, there is plenty more to come.
